Tips for a Successful Reception
The heart of a wedding is the ceremony: the moment the bride walks down the aisle, the way the groom looks at her as she speaks her vows, and the pronouncement that two are now one. However, a wedding is also a celebration, and that’s why your reception is so important. Here are a couple things to consider.
Everybody Dance Now
The most important dance is for the newlyweds, but most people want to get in the mix. However, not everyone likes the same kind of songs, so putting in some variety is a good way to get everyone out on the floor. Mix up the jam with pop, hip-hop and R&B hits, but don’t be afraid to throw some classic rock tunes or some modern country hits in there. Don’t forget to slow down the tempo from time to time.
If you hire a band or a DJ instead of playing tracks off a mix CD, it’s a good idea to discuss the songs they’ll play before the event. You don’t want any surprises.
Have a Good Menu
You are certainly not obligated to provide a full meal for your guests, but if your reception is going to last for more than a couple of hours, it is a good idea to at least offer some filling snacks. A dessert bar can be a lot of fun, and sandwiches are a good way to feed many people without spending too much money. Some people offer beer and wine at their reception, but this is totally optional.
The stage for the reception is as important as what happens. You can rent a room at a casino, but this can be expensive. Others opt for an outdoor reception. There are some beautiful locations near Las Vegas, although you may wish to consider a canopy rental in Las Vegas, as the sun can be very intense. No matter what you choose, the venue should be big enough to accommodate all your guests but not too big, helping ensure that everyone enjoys your exciting day in the proper setting.
